We Need To Talk About Kevin
Tilda Swinton as Eva
Ezra Miller as Kevin
Jonh C. Reilly as Franklin
Directed by: Lynne Ramsay

We Need To Talk About Kevin so far is one of the best films i’ve seen this year. It’s about a mother who felt responsible after her psychopath son went on a high school killing spree.
The film is presented by transitions of the present and the past. The present is Eva suffering from the wrath of the people from the community and her grief and loss because her daughter and husband were killed too. The past shows how their family started and how Kevin grew up abnormally.
I like how the film captures the emotion of its audience. You’ll feel like you’re in the foot of Eva’s character doing everything to please Kevin, who is always cold and mean to her, but still nothing changes. You’ll be so pissed with Kevin here because of his rudeness, lies, weird acts, and creepy stares, which he does only to Eva. He is nice to his father, Franklin. He enjoys activities with him specially archery. He is like that because he has an intention of making Eva feel jealous and miserable. So whenever Eva talks about the behavior of Kevin to Franklin, he always just understand Kevin and does no actions without knowing he’s already taking part in the making of a killer.
Watching every scene from this film will make you look forward to see its conclusion. Because you would want to know the reason behind Kevin’s psychotic behavior. Frustratingly, in the end when Eva asked the big question, Why?, she did not get an answer. Maybe it’s the intention of the director to just leave it to our imaganition.
With the editing, the brilliant acting of Tida and Ezra, and the story, i rate this film 8.5/10.
I really think John C. Reilly was miscast here. He is a good actor but someone else is more suitable for his role here.
